So, I just recently saw the new movie Prometheus – it was pretty good, visually appealing if nothing else. That’s not really newsworthy. But what I found out is that this movie is the prequel to the Alien series. I had absolutely idea until the credits began to roll.
I did the same thing a few years back with the movie Across the Universe. I didn’t know – I had no clue – that it featured songs by The Beatles; I only put the pieces together once Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds started playing.
Of course, I never listen to The Beatles and I’ve never seen the Alien movies. I don’t think that quite gets me off the hook though, huh?
Well ideally a movie should be made to be understood by people who aren’t necessarily aware of the franchise. So if a person has seen all 150 trailers of Dark Knight Rises or someone who hasn’t even seen/heard of the first two, they should both be up to speed by the 15 minute mark.
I guess that’s true. I think Across the Universe gets a free ride, though, since… really, (besides me) who doesn’t know The Beatles? Haha
nope, you’re not off the hook. i think it is just a matter of what you pay attention to. i knew both those facts though i’ve still never seen Across the Universe and can only recall seeing reference scenes to Alien and never the whole movie. Prometheus, in mythology, also stole fire from the gods and gave it to the humans even though he was not supposed to at all. mixed consequences. i havent seen the movie yet so idk if that myth has anything to do with it (probably does, or another version of the myth does). I’ll have more to say about that tonight.
Oh! And in the 90s there was a show on nickolodean called Prometheus and Bob. Fun facts!!
Bah! I think I am quite off the hook. But what the heck was that Nickelodeon show about?
Oh em gee! I remember this!
